21 considering joining peace corps or chore core?
Hi i am a 21 year old female and i really hold no clue what i want to do with my life, but doing the receptionist post for $11 an hour is getting old and i want to do more with my duration, i want to help out people i am extremely compassionate i didn’t take my SAT and i only go out and got a esthetics license. I want more out of life and my counselor recommended me to combine peace corp or job corp, i wanted to know which would be better or lend a hand me most in the long run since i have no lessons besides a high school diploma and i live near my boyfriend and going back to live with my parents is not an selection. Any advice or pros and cons would really help. Thank you for your time

26 weeks of Collectable Unemployment… but what if.?
If I call MARVIN and don’t “claim” a couple of weeks, because I received monies from my previous employer (a paycheck owed, plus my accrued personal time stale pay) will that “extend” my weeks on out by two weeks, as opposed to “losing” those two weeks? Does anyone know? I read the brochure, but I’m still confused.

28 near no adjectives, What should I do?
Hi all, Ok I am 28 and I have lost everything from the love of my life span (over a year ago) to my license. No it was not drugs just wrong choices and believing within others. So I am just about 28 next to nothing going for myself. I was thinking military (navy or air-force) but even later I would rather be a officer joining. Now I have no college so that would run 4 years to do (time is short). I made wrong decisions and trusted others when I tried to help beside their company’s. Now I have moved back home beside nothing. So any Ideas. Reason why I was thinking military is because what else is for me?I would approaching to do Humanitarian work across seas but I see you have to own at least 2 years of college if you want to get salaried for it. I really don’t have anyone to help so…

2nd Interview at Michaels?
So the first interview went good, I get the impression that she liked me since she said she like my responses and personality. I called final today, and surprised me when she said she wants me to come in for a second interview. Of course I have an idea that it’s a good thing that she asked me contained by for a second interview, but I’m just sort of worried, is it going to be the same point as the first? What are they going to ask? Ah, anyone who can enlighten me on this or how 2nd interviews typically mean or work would give support to lots.

3 years out of work, but outstandingly skilled?
Hi, i have currently been out of work for 3 years immediately, but was/is a highly skilled engineering job. at the moment i’m have trouble, getting interviews, due to the 3 year gap in my cv (which is explainable). Anything i could do to boost my prospects? Stu

4′ 11…too short to get hold of a situation?
I’ve never had a real chore before (All the jobs I’ve have were/are at my school in college)…I own an interview on Friday at a real estate place as a receptionists. The area is really nice (mostly rich people) I can’t back but to think negative that I’m not going to obtain the job because I’m too short. I’m 22, I’m short and slim. People tell me that I look close to a kid. Do you think I have a break of getting the job.

4. Which trade bridleway have the most appeal to you?
4. Which career path have the most appeal to you: working your way up through a large corporation or working for yourself? Why?

5 minute interview.?
I just came posterior from an interview at century 21 real estate for a receptionists position. The interview lasted roughly 5 minutes I think. She really did not ask me any real interview question. She just went over my resume and said, so you budge to (school’s name) then she said you want to be a psychologist/psychiatrist. I said a Psychologist. she asked what grad school I be looking to go to I said that I don’t know yet, I’m still looking and that I be thinking about taking a year off. she asked if I have any questions and I just said I considered necessary to know what the position was for. When I really meant, what are the duties of the mission. anyway she said it’s a receptionist position and she then told me what I would be responsible for. She asked me if I was interested. I said yes.. and said that I have applied at another location, which is where she got my resume from.. She consequently asked how much was I looking the get remunerated. I told her a minimum of 12 dollars. She said that I seem a little shy and I a moment ago smiled because I didn’t want her to know I was nervous or speak something stupid. She asked if I was good near computer and I said yes..she said that was a plus. She asked me again if I had any question I said no. Then she said that’s it. and confirmed my phone # and said “I’ll let you know. It probably didn’t play out exactly like this because Ieft little mechanical things out…at one point there was an awkward silence (when she said I be shy) but as I said it was a “real” interview, like what I be expecting. Anyways…do you think the interview went desperate… Thanks…I just really want this job…

5 year checkable work history for collateral work.?
How does this process work? Is it (A) a case of “I’ve got zilch to hide check away!” and leave that to company to check up or (B) Do I simply write down all the jobs i’ve have for the past five years & thats it or (C) Do I have to jump and get a police check or something simular? Please help as you can see I am terribly confused!

51 year infirm womanly working near 71 and 85 year outmoded men that want my hours!?
I recently answered an ad for a guarantee company that stated my job would be “full time, 40 hrs/wk, nights and holidays”. At the interview, the boss told me that it would be more approaching 46 hours per week providing that the senior officer didn’t want the extra hours. Well, he did…so now I get 36 hours per week. At that time, within were exactly five officers. Less than two months after that, we have seven officers. One have agreed to stay on as emergency on-call (basically no set hours). One is being threatened with firing, one is 85 years elderly, one is 71 years old, one recently have a heart attack and was off work for over two months…at 51, I am the lone female officer there, subsequent to the youngest, and my work so far has been in need incident or problem. My doctor has ordered me to have surgery contained by three weeks. Even though I will miss less than a week of work, I have this odd feeling that I will not get my 36 hours put money on again after I return from surgery. I’ve asked the boss and he said that I would get my 36 hours back, no question asked…but…he gives in to the 71 year hoary fellow who is a sexist and thinks the 85 year old buddy can do a better assignment than I can. He has already told other officers within that he fully intends that the 85 year old officer will be taking over my job and that I can own “maybe 8 hours a week”. The only wonderful piece about this job is that I work alone and don’t hold to be around these dinosaurs more than ten minutes per day. Should I hang contained by there and trust the bosses word, get equipped for a sexual harrassment suit (remember, I am the only female working at this facility) or consent to the old farts have their instrument and quit? I love this job and would hate to lose it…I scrounging, this sounds harsh and all, but the 71 and 85 year antiquated fellows don’t have too copious working years left I would think (surprised and shocked that they ARE still working). Any thoughts on the thing would be appreciated.

Speech Language Pathology Jobs Help People Find Their Voice

Filed in: Job Search by admin on 01-25-10

Speech pathologists can be found in many settings and work with patients of all ages. Sometimes called speech therapists, they can be found in schools, private practices, hospitals, and nursing homes.

People working in the speech language pathology field assist patients with different ailments that involve their voice. This might mean helping them use proper tone and correct pronunciation of words. Other issues could involve using the proper volume in various settings. Those that are uncomfortable with an accent might also see a speech therapist in order to overcome it. Speech language pathologists will also work with people that have difficulties or disorders with specific part of the anatomy that affect producing language. This would include those having problems swallowing.

In the case of a problem that cannot be overcome, speech language pathologists would help find a way for the person to adapt. For someone who has not been able to produce speech, an augmentative communication device might be necessary. A speech therapist would assist the patient in finding the correct one to meet their needs. They would also provide training on how to use it and adapt it to different situations. A therapist might also turn to other ways to communicate. Sign language or working on writing skills might be a solution for people that cannot use their voice to express themselves.

People of all types will use the skills of a speech therapist. Patients could be people that were born with neurological issues. Cerebral Palsy and Autism both could affect the way a person is able to communicate. Sometimes older people develop issues because of other health occurrences such as a stroke or onset of Parkinson’s disease. Students with learning disabilities might also need assistance. The amount of time that someone will see a speech language pathologist depends on how long it will take to meet their needs which might change over time.

To become a speech language pathologist a person must pass an accredited master’s program. Licensure is necessary in order to work in a private practice. But, only twelve states require it in order to work within a school system. The job market for speech language pathologists continues to increase making this a good field to go into. It is expected to continue to increase for the next ten years. The average salary of a speech language pathologist in May 2008, was $66,130.

Speech language pathologist jobs provide a professional with many choices on who they want to work with and in what setting. Regardless of the specifics of what they do, a service is provided which allows patients to have improved function in every part of their lives. Beyond the security of working in a field that is continuing to grow, what it brings to people will provide and endless amount of personal rewards.

Information on Dialysis Nurse Job Opportunities

Filed in: Job Search by admin on 01-23-10

Dialysis nurse jobs require a lot of patience and determination since you will always be busy and may be expected to serve for long hours. The best thing is to be on top of your game and be one of the best nurses in the field.

As soon as you finish college, it is important to even volunteer in a health centre providing dialysis services as this will help you a lot in terms of gaining experience. You will know how to operate the dialysis machine better, analyze patients and many other things so that when you enter the job market, you will be as competitive as the rest.

Most of the dialysis nurse jobs require that you are a graduate from a nursing school that is also accredited and have some experience in what is required. As long as you have passed the Certified Dialysis Nurse Examination and are a registered nurse, you can find an excellent job that is both well paying and fulfilling. These kinds of jobs can be found in many ways including internet job sites. The internet provides a number of opportunities in various places for dialysis nurses. Even if you are not experienced, you will find a suitable position as there are those entry level jobs for people like you.

Dialysis jobs also exist for those nurses who like to travel and some of these dialysis travel jobs can be very well paying. If you are interested in such, you could try registering with one of the travel nurse job agencies so they could connect you with a dialysis job opportunity in your place of interest. Dialysis travel nurse jobs are not only interesting but also well paying. You can work somewhere for as long as you want and when you feel like moving, you just find a dialysis nurse job somewhere else.

Part time jobs for dialysis nurses are also available for those who would like to dedicate just a few hours a week to work with the dialysis patients, for instance, 30 hours. Some positions are for night time only where you will be working for some hours every week during the night hence it all depends on what and how you want to work. With the part time and travel jobs, you should consider what you getting and the services you are providing.

You should always try to find jobs related to your education level and job experience as that is where you have high chances of being considered. If you are highly educated and have more experience, you may be considered for a leadership role such as those who work as dialysis nurse education coordinators. With some experience, it is not a must you start with an entry level job but you can get a higher position in the health centre.

Dialysis Nursing; A Career With Many Opportunities

Filed in: Job Search by admin on 01-22-10

There is an over abundance of Dialysis Nurse jobs available, making it an excellent career field with a great career outlook. It is a fast paced and hectic work environment, but it is also very rewarding. Dialysis patients not only need excellent medical care, but compassion and comfort.

A dialysis nurse is also referred to as a nephrology nurse, a urology nurse or a renal nurse. Being a specialized nursing career, the job description differs from that of RN who performs general patient care. They are the key component for managing patient care and operating complex dialysis equipment. They also perform medical procedures, do patient assessments, blood product transfusions, lab work, and general patient care. Kidney failure can be serious and life threatening, so a well trained and dedicated nurse can be a dialysis’ patients lifeline. Nurses spend a lot of one on one time with patients, so to be successful they must be empathetic and kind. Exceptional interaction skills, communication skills, decision making skills and having the ability to work as part of a team are also necessary to be successful in this field.

Outside of hospitals, there are approximately 3,600 dialysis facilities in the United States, giving Dialysis nurses opportunities to work from just about anywhere. Although job opportunities are primarily in hospitals and clinics, nurses are not limited to these settings. Dialysis nurses can specialize in home treatment and teach patients how to perform dialysis procedures at home. They not only educate their patients, they also monitor and administer medications and evaluate how their patient’s home dialysis routine is progressing. This gives them some freedom and the ability to create their own schedule. Dialysis nurses working at facilities typically work between 36-50 hours a week.

The salary for dialysis nurses can be very generous. According to salary.com, the average salary is over $64,000. This amount varies, and can be higher based on experience, additional certification and having a Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing, or a Master’s of Science in Nursing. If the nurse has a Certified Hemodialysis Nurse credential they can expect higher pay. Although most employers prefer experience, if you are new to the field there are still plenty of Dialysis Nurse jobs available.

A career as a Dialysis Nurse is not only rewarding mentally, but it provides a great sense of security. The healthcare industry is the largest industry in the world providing 14 million jobs and the United States Department of Labor predicts that it will generate 3 million new wage and salary jobs between 2006 and 2016. The high demand and low supply of dialysis nurses make it a career with many opportunities. This combined with the self-satisfaction of taking care of others and improving peoples lives makes being a diagnostic nurse a fulfilling, life long career.

Housing Jobs

Filed in: Job Search by admin on 01-22-10

The housing industry is a broad and diverse sector with housing jobs covering a range of public and private interests. There are many different segments to the housing industry with jobs offered in development, estate management, supported housing, homelessness, housing services and regeneration, making it an interesting career choice.

Development jobs surround the re-development of brownfield sites or perhaps the construction of new homes or offices on greenfield land. Jobs in the development sector can include the technical role of an architect who designs the buildings themselves or a planner whose job it is to formulate plans for the development of an area to optimise land use and infrastructure. Jobs in development can also include building surveyors who manage the costings of a particular building project.

Estate management and supported housing jobs can surround working with local communities to make sure that they are involved in any planned decisions every step of the way and encourage committees to promote community spirit. Estate and supported housing managers may or may not live on site in the community but are specifically in charge of a particular block of flats or estate area, making sure that their designated area is a comfortable, safe and habitable place to live. These roles involve working in the community on a daily basis, offering advice on how residents can achieve their goals, on tenancies, crime, social or other estate issues. As such, they are recognised and respected figures in the local community.

Homelessness jobs can be based in the local council or in charitable organisations such as Shelter. Workers may be involved in homelessness prevention, ie: advising people on their options such as sheltered housing or helping them to get back on their feet again. The work is varied involving a plethora of different age groups, from young people and families to isolated elderly individuals.

Housing services jobs include the roles of Housing and Neighbourhood Officers. Such roles involve managing a portfolio of properties, usually for a local council or housing association. They may work with vulnerable people, including the elderly and those with mental health issues. The work can be demanding but it can also be very rewarding as housing officers often make a positive difference to tenants’ lives by improving their living conditions and their local community. More specifically the job description can include interviewing applicants and allocating properties; advising tenants on property matters; helping vulnerable tenants to feel safe; and inspecting properties to make sure that they are in a habitable condition – briefing any repair work into the relevant company.

Regeneration roles are perhaps the most exciting in the housing sector as they involve the redevelopment of small areas such as blocks of flats, to large areas such as city boroughs or council estates. Mainly, regeneration roles are urban based but some roles involve regeneration in isolated rural areas. Specifically, regenerating a tower block for example, can not only improve the aesthetic of the building and increase its energy efficiency, but it can reduce crime, aid social interaction between residents and reduce fear of crime. Economically speaking, it also raises the profile of the area and improves house prices as well as upgrading infrastructure.

Thus, whether your interest lies in the technical, economic, social or financial aspects of housing, there are many varied career choices available.

Technology Jobs – At The Heart Of The Digital Age

Filed in: Job Search by admin on 01-21-10

Living in 2010, its easy to take somethings for granted. Not just the important things – food, shelter and warmth – but the little things – entertainment, information and communication. These qualities have come to define the digital age, and its all thanks to people in technology jobs.

Practically every type of technology job is aimed at improving the day to day working or personal life of people in the developed world. Technology recruitment is the fuel that keeps modern society running, providing both the developers of technology and the support staff who keep the rest of us on our feet.

It’s easy to forget that just one generation ago, computers were the size of rooms and a mobile phone was something out of Star Trek. That a database consisted of hundreds of index cards and corresponding filing cabinets. That life was, in short, much slower – not because you had less to do, but because everything had to be done physically. Its only thanks to the hard working people in technology jobs that today’s marvels are possible – and are even commonplace.

Leaving aside the wondrous applications many of us take for granted, the people behind the technology are tragically unacknowledged. For many, technology jobs seem unglamourous. However reality is far different from the ‘great man’, lone inventor style of history that popular culture loves to embrace. The truth is that every piece of technology, in every stage and aspect, is the product of a much more complicated relationship. Ask yourself, who created the internet?

The answer is that it was the work of thousands of different people in different technology development teams across the world. Originally, it started as a research program from the US department of defence, as a communications network between technology institutes and universities in America. The transformation from this to today’s world wide web didn’t come in a single moment, but in a gradual process that was the direct result of the work of people in technology jobs. This wasn’t just software developers and researchers, but hardware technicians, communications engineers and coders.

How the splintered communications networks of companies, governments and universities grew into the internet is a long story that doesn’t need explaining here. But it serves as a useful illustration of the nature of working in technology and the nature of technological advances. The people working on the various projects often had very little idea about the effect they would have on the world, and those outside had even less.

The same could be said for any of the other gadgets that have become central to our life. The iPhone is the combination of technology developed for flat-screen televisions, desktop computers and (of course) mobile phones. Digital television was only possible because of the work of developers for computer-based video software such as MPEGs or .avi’s. Computers themselves only came about because people wanted to build a better counting machine!

Whilst they may seem arcane and obtuse to the rest of us, technology jobs have had an effect on the world unlike any other form of profession in the last century.

Buyer Job Vacancies – 5 Easy Way To Find A Buyer Job

Filed in: Job Search by admin on 01-20-10

Buyer job vacancies are out there, it’s just a matter of knowing where to look and when to look. It’s a jungle out there, but with these five tips in mind, you may be able to negotiate it and get yourself that new buyers job…

1)When you hear of people moving companies, call ahead of job advertisements.

A great way to get your CV noticed and your foot in the door is by calling ahead and making some sort of contact with the person who may actually end up interviewing you for the position you are aware of. By doing this, you will keep yourself at the front of their mind for both initiative and motivation concerning their vacancy. In order to keep up to date with people who moving from companies, you have to network, keep your ear to the ground and play the game.

2)Do not be afraid to cold call.

Buyers, by their very nature are astute and forward, not afraid to ask for what they want. It’s a good idea to send out your CV speculatively to companies, even if there is no vacancy. At least this way, you are in the line up ahead of time, remember a huge percentage of jobs are filled without formal interviews and advertising. Don not miss out on that ideal job because you were too busy waiting for it to be advertised and even when you think there is no job, you would be surprised at how often there is something that would suit you. If you like a particular companies culture and reputation, cold call. You never know what it will bring.

3)Make a recruitment consultant your friend.

Whether we love them or loath them, recruitment consultants are in fact someone who could help us and represent us better than we can ourselves with companies we would never be able to access. Recruitment consultants are able to put in the time and effort we quite simply cannot if we are already working and have contacts, that we quite simply will never have. Make them your friend and they can open doors that you alone will not.

4)Listen to feedback

If you are facing redundancy or suchlike, take up opportunities to go to training seminars on securing new positions. Often workshops within these seminars will have simulated interviews, these are excellent ways to gain feedback on how we come across to other people, especially considering the pressures of interview scenarios.

5) Upskill, educate and inform yourself.

For those who have been in current positions for sometime, there can not be enough emphasis placed on the importance of knowing what your professional values are at that moment in time. If there are certain key terms, phrases, values or approaches to buying that are out there and you aren’t using them or aware of them, you could find yourself in trouble. Buying is a dynamic profession, so make sure you are up to date with current themes and trends and inform yourself of the market place, in which you now find yourself.

Junior Buyer Jobs and Senior Buyer Jobs available. Apply based on your own level of experience.

Protean And Boundaryless Careers

Filed in: Job Search by admin on 01-20-10

Two trends have changed the world of work in many ways. The first is the shift towards a knowledge based economy that many countries are seeing and the second is global connectivity, interdependence and integration. The new career context that is emerging as a result of these trends has given rise to the terms – Protean and Boundaryless careers.

Protean careers

Companies are operating in a more complex (knowledge-based/global) environment, which is constantly changing. They need to be flexible and nimble in order to stay in business and hence many companies have given-up the idea of keeping employees for a lifetime. By doing, so they have transferred the responsibility and risk of managing careers to the individual. So in order to survive this change, individuals need to become more self-reliant in managing their careers. This means knowing what they want from their careers, developing the skills/knowledge/network that is necessary to achieve their goals and being able to ‘change with change’.

Hence the term Protean career, the origin of of which comes from Proteus, a Greek sea-god who could change in form as the situation demanded. A more formal definition is provided below:

“The protean career is driven by the person, not the organization, based on individually defined goals, encompassing the whole life space, and being driven by psychological success (rather than) objective measures of success such as pay, rank or power. It is a career in which the person is (1) values driven in the sense that the individual’s personal values provide the guidance and measure of success for the individual’s career, and (2) self-directed in personal career management-having the ability to be adaptive in performance and learning demands.”

Boundaryless careers

Another result of these changes is the move towards more ‘boundaryless’ careers, which involve a sequence of job opportunities that go beyond single employment settings. It involves the breaking down of traditional boundaries (for example job boundaries of specialist functions and skills), organisational careers which progress independently of well trodden career paths and the social boundaries separating work and family roles.

The concepts of protean and boundaryless careers are still developing and there are many factors such (for example social/cultural beliefs and economic status) which impact their adoptability/implementation. Nevertheless, they are important concepts/developments and have implications that should be considered.

Implications for organisations: If you want to retain the best people make sure you provide them with the resources/opportunities necessary for managing their career, either within or outside your firm. Why outside your firm? Because they will not stick on, if you are not providing them with development opportunities that enhance their marketability.

Implications for individuals: While the current recession will be a dampener for a bit, never has there been a time when you could pursue what you really want, to such an extent. Take advantage of this and in case you are not doing so already, start taking charge of your own career.
